Passion, Preference, and People

I'm finding myself lost in my thoughts tonight. Maybe I'm just emotional about the Tigers losing or perhaps I'm in a state of shock from the Lions being 5-0. Either way, me and my thoughts are busy tonight.

Why do we have the passions we do. Why do we pour our hearts and souls into everything from knitting to crossbow hunting. Why do certain things make us excited while others drain us. Why do we enjoy hearing one person sing, another talk, or another whistle. Why do we feel more comfortable around people like us. Why do we fear the unknown more than we anticipate adventure. Why are you reading this blog that seems to be going in circles.

I believe it's simple: we just do.

I have preferences and opinions. So does she. So does he. We like what we like and we don't what we don't. Do I believe our passions, preferences, and opinions are God given...yes I do. I believe God gives us people in life who have similar passions and preferences to share struggles, joys, and other parts of life with. But, I also believe we shouldn't base our love on these differences. At the root of our creation is love. I believe we were created to love God and love others. I don't have to love your preferences. You don't have to love mine. But, I have to love you and you have to love me. This blows my mind and leads to a million different questions for me.

What questions does it raise for you.
